Following introductions by Mr. Robert Chester, Curator of the Crispus Attucks Museum, and Chuck Workman, Master of Ceremonies, the Carl Hines Sextet will take the stage at 3:00 pm to perform and share stories about their time at Crispus Attucks.

This is an All-Star line-up of Crispus Attucks alumni featuring pianist Carl Hines, trumpeter Clifford Ratliff, tenor saxophonist Bill Penick, guitarist Steve Weakley, bassist Al Fennell and drummer Kenny Phelps.

A photo exhibit by photographer Mark Sheldon, featuring several of our legendary Indianapolis jazz musicians will also be on display.

The IPS Crispus Attucks Museum is located at 1140 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street, in the city of Indianapolis, on the newly renovated campus of the historic Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet High School.

The Crispus Attucks Museum professionally houses treasures from the first all-black high school in the state of Indiana, with its history-making African American community that produced such legends as basketball great "The Big O," Oscar Robertson; jazz sensation, Wes Montgomery; and opera sensation, Angela Brown.

The museum's archival collection consists of yearbooks dating back to the turn of the 20th century, plus a vast collection of city and state memorabilia, with an especially rich African/African-American memorabilia and art collection.

There is no charge for this event. All ages welcome, refreshments provided. Donations to benefit the museum are gratefully accepted!

This event is sponsored in part by the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation, A Great Day in Indy, The Great Frame Up and more...
